Apple held its annual September event, unveiling the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus alongside the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which introduced the pill-and-hole "Dynamic Island" cutout and an always-on display, replacing the notch used since 2017.
The Pro models were the first iPhones to ship with a 48-megapixel main camera, while all models gained a satellite-based emergency SOS feature for reaching help outside of cellular coverage. Notably, Apple discontinued the iPhone Mini line, with the standard iPhone 14 keeping the same size as its predecessor.
The event also introduced Apple Watch Ultra, a rugged, larger smartwatch aimed at endurance athletes and outdoor adventurers, featuring a titanium case, a 36-hour battery, and a starting price of $799, well above the existing Apple Watch Series 8.
