Uber and Pony.ai announced an expanded partnership to deploy more than 2,000 robotaxis across Europe, building on the companies' existing commercial autonomous-ride service in Zagreb, Croatia, developed with local mobility partner Verne.
The expansion will bring Pony.ai's self-driving vehicles onto the Uber app in four additional European cities, with the companies also outlining plans to extend the partnership into the Middle East. The collaboration dates back to May 2025, when Uber and Pony.ai first agreed to bring robotaxis onto Uber's platform in international markets outside the United States and China.
The announcement adds Europe to the list of regions where major ride-hailing platforms are racing to commercialize autonomous vehicles at scale, following years of more limited robotaxi pilots concentrated in a handful of U.S. and Chinese cities, and signals growing regulatory comfort with driverless ride-hailing on European roads.
