Samsung used its August Unpacked event to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4, the fourth generation of its foldable smartphones, alongside new Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Buds2 Pro models.
The Z Fold4 refined rather than reinvented its predecessor, with a slightly wider cover screen, a new hinge that reduced the crease, and a 50-megapixel main camera. The Z Flip4, Samsung's clamshell-style foldable, got a larger battery and faster charging while keeping its compact form factor and starting price of $999.
Samsung said foldables had become its fastest-growing device category and pointed to improved durability and a maturing app ecosystem as reasons more buyers were considering the once-niche form factor. Analysts noted that as Samsung's average selling prices rose, foldables were becoming central to its premium smartphone strategy.
